CONTINUING EDUCATION CLASSES 


Classes are only $79 each when prepaid at least one week in advance, or $99 thereafter. Cash, check, Visa, Discover and MasterCard are accepted.

All CE classes meet from
9 am to 4 pm, with a 1-hour break for lunch. All CE classes count for 6 CE hours.

CONTINUING EDUCATION CLASS DESCRIPTIONS 


Body Wraps in a Dry Room

Need to add a little "spa" to your business? This class is for you! No need for a shower, this luxurious treatment will pamper your clients and keep them coming back for more! Please bring two sets of sheets, and lotion in a closed container (no oil please!). There will be a $10 product fee payable to the instructor the morning of class.

Cranial Sacral Therapy 
This is a non-invasive gentle technique which may help provide relief for migraine headaches, fibromyalgia, and general anxiety. It is suitable for adults, children and elderly clients facing health concerns. Please bring table linens, massage lotion or cream (no oil, please), notebook and pen to class.

Chair Massage 
Learn the basics for marketing and administering chair massage in a corporate setting. This is a great way to jump-start your massage career! A variety of chairs are available for your use, but feel free to bring your own so you can practice with it! Please bring at least one face-cradle cover and a notebook and pen.

East Meets West 
Looking for something different? Here's a fun class that blends the best of Asian massage techniques with practiced Western style! Learn practical uses for strokes that you can incorporate into everyday table massage to WOW your clients! Please bring sheets, lotion in a closed container, and a notebook and pen.

Hot Stone Massage
 
Learn this fabulous and simple technique that will leave your clients limp, without the use of a wet room! This is a "must have" class for every therapist! A hot stone kit is mandatory for this class. You may purchase ours in advance for just $90, or bring your own. The kit includes: a full set of river stones, turkey roaster, slotted spoon, net, loofah glove, thermometer, and storage box. You will need to bring sheets, massage oil in a pump container, one bath-sized towel, six hand-sized towels, and a notebook and pen.

Lymphatic Drainage 
In this class, learn the light, rhythmical massage that aids the body in moving lymphatic fluid, which plays a key role in delivering nutrients and antibodies to the tissues and cells of the body as well as removing debris and waste products from the lymph nodes. Lymphatic drainage is known to calm the nervous system, lower blood pressure, reduce stress, and improve sleep patterns. Female students should wear a sports-type bra to this class and a loose-fitting top. Please bring sheets, lotion in a closed container, and a notebook and pen.

Marketing Your Massage Business 
This class will take your sagging business to new levels! Learn easy tips to market yourself in a variety of effective ways. We will cover simple advertising, creative gift certificates, fostering customer loyalty, and much, much more! Learn from experienced instructors about what really WORKS, just in time for the holiday season! Notebook, pen, and a creative attitude required!

Massage for the Elderly
Join this interesting class designed especially for your geriatric clientele. We’ll focus on contraindications, special body positions and health concerns for this population. Please bring sheets, notebook, pen, massage lotion and cream.

My Favorite Muscles

You asked for it, so here it is! An in-depth A&P review of the most irritating muscles, origin, insertion and action and most importantly – techniques to address them! You’ll learn a lot from this class and become a better therapist. Please bring notebook & pen, sheets and lotion in a closed container.
 
Pain Management 
This comprehensive system of massage therapy integrates a variety of massage's most effective techniques in the treatment of soft-tissue dysfunctions, injury and pain. Learn the basics for assessing your client and applying the best technique to assist in their rehabilitation. Please bring a notebook, pen, a set of sheets, and lotion in a closed container.

Prenatal & Infant Massage
Learn details about contraindications, positioning, and techniques to address your clients and their babies at this special time in their lives. Expectant mothers will be “provided” for you to practice with!

Sports Massage I
Learn to take exceptional care of your more active clients – whether they are everyday athletes or weekend warriors. This class will provide you with the training to utilize effective stretching and other pre-event and post-event techniques. This will help your clients achieve optimal performance. You will need linens, notebook, pen and lotion in a closed container.
 
Stretching Your Client & Yourself 
Educating your client in the basics of stretching and self-care is fundamental. Learn easy ways to teach your client effective ways to stretch and limber up yourself!

Taxes & Legislative Update
Get you paperwork in order! Quick and easy tips to streamline your business. Also, learn about changes in the Texas Code regarding massage therapy. Please bring a notebook and pen to this class.

Trigger Points 
Trigger points are small knots that develop in overworked or injured muscle tissue. Usually, the trigger points send their pain to another site in the body - known as referred pain. Trigger points can cause a wide variety of pain in the body. When you understand them, trigger points are easy to locate and release with simple massage applications. This is a "must have" series for every serious massage therapist.

CONTINUING EDUCATION CLASS POLICIES

Each CE class is worth 6 hours of credit approved by TXDSHS for licensed massage therapists. Classes begin promptly at 9 am and end at 4 pm, with a one-hour lunch break scheduled from approximately 12 pm - 1 pm. CE students are provided with a complimentary light breakfast. Please bring a notebook, pen, linens, and massage cream or lotion in a pump bottle or other closed container. NO OIL PLEASE!

Cancellations, Transfers, and Missed CE Classes:
Cancellations made at least 7 days prior to a scheduled class may be transferred to another CE class within a 6-month period. Cancellations made less than 7 days prior to a scheduled class may not be transferred or refunded. CE students who fail to attend classes will not be eligible for a refund or transfer to another class. CE students who fail to attend all scheduled hours will not be awarded a certificate of completion or transcript - absolutely no exceptions!
